MAINTAINING YOUR MARRIAGE

Getting married is one, maintaining your marriage is another. It’s just like the difference between buying a beautiful and rugged car and giving it a good maintenance. You purchase your car only once but you maintain if for life or for as long as you wish to keep that car.

It is the maintenance of your marriage that keeps it going. A car you don’t maintain will soon pack off just the same way a marriage you don’t maintain will. It is only a marriage that you can maintain that you can keep.

Sometimes married people get quite comfortable with the level of success in their marriage that they get completely complacent. They get so used to their spouses that even simple courtesies have been unknowingly shown the way out of their marriages. For some, it is easier to say “I am sorry” to an outsider; but to their spouse at home NO WAY! After all, “he should understand me; by the way, “should understand I don’t really mean it”. Understand? Understand what? Your spouse will not understand what you are unwilling to apologize for (even when it is clear that you are wrong).

Come to think of it, love and affection have the tendency to be outdated very easily if not regularly maintained. That is why marriage needs maintenance on an ongoing basis. Maintaining your marriage is an every minute, hour, and day work. Simply because, a marriage that is not maintained will soon be out of date. Falling in love with each other in marriage is a daily responsibility. Falling in love is an event that must take place over and over and over if you and I must experience bliss in our marriages. In fact, In marriage, falling in love is not just an event, it is a lifestyle.

Some marriages are long overdue for maintenance. What are you still waiting for? Let it begin immediately. Just before you begin, be informed that you can’t outsource maintenance. It is a do-it-yourself assignment. Nobody understands your marriage like you and your spouse do. However, you can seek for help from reliable sources.

What are the things you used to do before that you think are no longer necessary? Learn the maintenance begin friend and … ensure you don’t stop – it’s a continuous process. Don’t leave your marriage to chance. Don’t forget that a successful marriage is a choice.

See you at the mountain top.

Cheers!
