There are some frictions we have with our spouses and in-laws that are totally avoidable if only we apply wisdom and learn to keep our mouths shut when necessary.
For instance, as a wife, no matter how often your spouse complains he hates his mother, brother or sister, never join him to castigate his family. Blood is always thicker than water! No matter how much he claims he hates them, they are still a part of him and sooner or later, they will find their meeting point and reunite as family.
Family bond is powerful! You can't break it or seperate him from his family because you are married to him. Thesame principle apply to men; never join your wife to despise her family. A part of her loves them dearly and no matter the friction between them, they will always find a meeting point.
Instead, whenever your spouse complains about his people, encourage him to love, support and give to them. He may reject your advise, but deep down, he will appreciate you for helping him love his people. She will respect you for helping her stay united with her family members.
Never support your spouse to hate or fight his/her parents or siblings, it will backfire in the long run and you will be seen as an enemy and outcast.
Let us be careful the way we handle our in-laws.
