Every one has a past. No one is a saint. No one drops from the sky and has his feet free of dirt. We have all done something we wish we didn't do. No matter how trivial it is, everyone has made some mistakes in the past.
However, the severity of past mistakes differ, so are the consequences and pain. To some, it's about dating the wrong guy and giving him all your heart while narrowly escaping sex while to another, it is about the heavy sex, just once but with a man who shattered your heart to pieces. To another it could be the regular sex and multiple abortions for different partners and to another, it's about living with another woman's husband for years on end. The extreme one involves prostitution, whoredom, lesbianism, murder, man slaughter and cocaine smuggling.
Men also have pasts. It can be as simple as masturbating heavily on daily basis while watching pornography or as serious as having multiple sex partners, cheating on your fiance, sleeping with another man's wife, homosexuality, incest like having sex with your sister or mother, rape, arm robbery, man slaughter or outright murder, cocaine smuggling, kidnapping, etc.
If you have asked God for forgiveness and genuinely repented, God has wiped away your sins and sees you as brand new, holy and pure. However, the consequences of those acts can keep reminding you of your past sins. For instance, a woman with a damaged womb will keep remembering the abortions she had while the man who slept with another person's wife will be very possessive and manic jealous over his wife. He lives in fear daily that someone may do the same thing to his wife.
No matter the level of the mistakes you made in the past, LEAVE YOUR PAST ALONE AND FACE YOUR FUTURE. You can't go back and correct it but God has surely taken care of it. He has wiped your slate clean and doesn't see you as a sinner anymore.
Do not marry a person you cannot open your heart to. Marry a man/woman who accepts you completely regardless of your past. You must not deceive a man because you want to marry him. The day he finds out the truth is the day your marriage comes to an end. Never hide your past from the woman you want to marry, no one likes surprises in marriage. Read my post: DIRTY SECRETS, it will help you a great deal.
Do not fear rejection while revealing your past to your partner. If they are made for you, they will stay and love you as if you have no past and if they leave, thank God because they are not meant for you and you have escaped lots of heartache that would have characterized your marriage in future.
Regardless of what you've been through, thank God you are still alive to start all over again. There are millions of people who do not have that chance. Do not repeat those mistakes anymore. Forgive yourself and those who contributed to your mistakes. God is not through with you yet, He is still working on you and beautifying you, by the time he is through with you, the whole world will marvel at your glory and power.
He is the supreme judge and since the supreme judge has declared you not guilty what remains? Your past is gone forever. Leave it alone and prepare for your future while enjoying your today.
God loves you with passion, you are the apple of his eyes, he sees you the way he created you: beautiful, holy, pure...and that is exactly who you are...
Cheers!
Forgetting the past might not be very easy. However its the best thing to do.
