There are times couples borrow money from each other. Integrity demands you return every dime borrowed at the time promised.
Never take your spouse for granted. This destroys trust, openness and unity in marriage. When a husband borrows money from his wife and refuses to return it because he is the bread winner of his house, he loses his respect and honour in his eyes. When a woman borrows money with no intention to return it, it shows she lacks integrity. Her husband's trust for her slowly erodes and he may eventually becomes stingy.
You didn't ask them to GIVE you; if they had the capacity they would have done so. You asked them to BORROW you. That money may have been budgeted for something very important that means life and death to them.
They may have borrowed you their business capital, school fees or the children's school fees. Do not make your spouse regret helping you. Avoid sentiment and unrealistic expectations. Do not expect your spouse to fore-go the money if they never planned to.
Be a man/woman of integrity and learn to keep your word. The Holy Book says, "Let your YES be YES and your NO be NO."
